The Best Christians

The best Christians are the most loving.

1 Corinthians 13:1-2: Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, (love) I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8: Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

1 Corinthians 13:13: And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Ephesians 3:19: And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Proverbs 10:12: Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

Proverbs 17:9: He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

Love is greater than eloquence, prophecy, understanding, knowledge, faith, power and hope. In the years since I have become saved the Lord has given me some knowledge of the Bible, but when I am unloving my knowledge of the Bible is worth almost nothing. I have known many Christians with very limited knowledge of the Bible who are very loving. They are far better Christians than I. How do you measure your spirituality? How do you measure up?
